An unnamed spaceship near Coruscant, Wednesday morning FT

It was time for some changes. After being called in to help the Triumvirate Intelligence Service with a mission, they had actively recruited Jessica over to Internal Security. For the first time in years, Jessica was the spy Nick Fury, Monica Chang, and Carol Danvers trained her to be. Just… in space.

And because she was in space, Jessica figured it was time to make a second change. She bought a space ship. Specifically a GPE-7300 space transport. It kind of looked like somebody had strapped a couple rockets to a boot, but not where you would expect. But it was pretty speedy, maneuverable, and affordable, and frankly Jessica might need a ship of her own in her new job to help her get to spy planets without expensing a ticket. So she got one.

And as she flew around a pretty empty expanse of space near Coruscant, she decided to show off to Sia how much good a pilot she was becoming.

“Okay, I know that’s the hyperdrive and that your Knights would hunt me down as a kidnapper if I hit it right now.” And then she didn’t hit that button. See? Great instincts, put toward a practical use. Exactly what a good pilot needed.

"Those are both very good pieces of information to know," Sia told her from where she was not at all concerned about this.

“You can relax. We’re in clear space. Nothing around to crash into or anything,” Jessica said. “That was a very clear condition from your staff. They picked it out. I told them that I received some flight training when I signed up with the army, but that didn’t seem to reassure them as much as I thought it would.”

That clearly had less to do with their training and more to do with Jessica being a sarcastic weirdo from another galaxy and a planet without casual space travel.

"That's because they're paranoid," Sia nodded. "They tend to be less so when I'm actually around."

Because she was good at dismissive gestures to make them go away.

The dismissive gestures didn’t count for as much when they came from Jessica. Unless people knew her. Then they would know how properly insulted and/or threatened they should be by the gestures.

“I wonder if it’s also because this ship looks like somebody said, ‘Hey, there’s a nice trailer. Let’s strap a couple giant engines on it and see what happens,’” Jessica joked. “But Atton gave it his blessing. And I don’t think he shares my sense of what a spaceship should look like anyway.”

"Probably not, though there's a good chance he holds that opinion out of spite," Sia said.

Because she knew him.

“He doesn’t have any reason to spite me,” Jessica said with mock offense. “I was the best roommate he ever had, and if he says differently then he’s lying.”

Sia paused briefly, and said, "You should probably refrain from actually saying that to him for a while, though."

“I suggested that I call the ship The Jessica Is The Best Roommate Atton Ever Had, but he said it was too wordy,” Jessica joked. “I don’t think he was opposed to it otherwise.”

"It's mainly the Sparkle part of things," Sia clarified.

“Oh, right,” Jessica said. “I always forget that people continued to have lives after I left Fandom.”

“It would still be a good name for a ship, though.”

"Do you have other contenders?" Sia wondered. Diplomatically.

“Right now it’s a coin flip between The Web Warrior as a shoutout to the Spiders of the Multiverse, or The Ultimatum, which sounds cool but maybe more like the Star Destroyers the old Empire night have used,” Jessica said. “Which shows you just how cool I think it sounds, because this is very much not that.”

“I’ll listen to any other suggestions, though.”

"I actually like the Ultimatum," said Sia, who did tend to be rather Imperial about things.
