Coruscant, Wednesday FT

"Decker! Sturtze!" Jessica ordered. "Get the squad geared up. We're shipbound in 10."

Things had been busy recently. Mission after mission after mission and Jessica had to work to find time to catch up with Sia. Spider Squadron was about to go on another one, but she had a few minutes to talk as long as Sia didn't mind watching troops gear up before getting on their ship.

“Did I hear that you brought something back from Fandom?” she asked now that the troopers were out of earshot. Well, nearly, because she spotted one of her corporals pop his head up. “Not you, Bandy! I’m talking to the Empress, show some respect!”

"I think I'm a bad influence in terms of smartassery."

[OOC: For Sia and then WHO KNOWS WHO ELSE. I do. I know.]

"Of course you are," Sia said, fondly. "Does Atton count as the something I brought back?"

In Jessica terms, probably.

"Yes he does," Jessica said. "I'm a little afraid I won't get a chance to bug him while he's around. If he takes off before I'm back, can you do me a favor and be just a little bit irritating at him for me?"

"He would probably say that's our entire relationship," Sia pointed out. "He's not planning on being around long, he's just waiting on a call."

She paused. "It's good to have him around right now, at least."

"Fair enough. At least tell him I said hi," Jessica said. "A vacation does sound nice, though. I might have to take one eventually."

"I keep saying the same thing." She'd managed like three days once. "Maybe once all of this is done, we should enable each other."


...Had they said that before? Probably a lot?

"There's gotta be a swanky vacation planet somewhere in this galaxy, right?" Jessica said. "Just an entire planet that's a beachside resort?"

"There are options. Nowhere on my schedule for a while, but there are options," Sia said. "I'll have my people look into it."

She did not do her own scheduling anymore.

"It's nice to have people for... that..." Jessica trailed off slightly as her spider-sense started a low-level buzz. It didn't feel like danger, exactly. "Something's happening."

Suddenly the air began to crackle and a white portal opened with a VOOMP, only for several Spider-Men and -Women to appear suddenly. It was an odd collection, mostly wearing red and blue costumes with black web patterns. There was an old woman in a costume-dress. There was a police officer with a spider-mask that somehow didn’t cover his mustache. But in the lead were a Peter Parker with his costume torn to shreds and scraps only covering his lower face, and a Spider-Woman in a white, black, and pink costume with a hoodie.

“Hey. Sorry to interrupt,” Gwen said. She spotted Jessica's mask and nodded. Those eye lenses tended to be distinctive across universes.

Sia waved a hand, just so between the squadron and the bodyguards around, no one would overreact to... this.

"Friends of yours, I'm assuming," Sia said to Jessica.

There was definitely a theme.

"Friends of friends at the very least," Jessica explained. She turned toward Gwen. "Web Warriors? Some kind of multiverse thing going on?"

"Kind of an emergency recruitment drive," Gwen said.

“The Inheritors are back,” Peter explained. “We need every Spider we can find in a hurry."

"Shit," Jessica said, immediately trying to do some mental coordination. She turned towards her troopers, who seemed to be on alert with whatever was going on. "PROFAR! Grab two blaster rifles for me!"

"The Inheritors," Sia repeated, frowning. "The ones who came to Fandom a few years ago?"

She immediately wanted to offer help... and she really couldn't. She couldn't take off to do anything, they were stretched on people as it was... She also wasn't going to stop anyone from giving Jessica weapons.

"Sia and I fought Verna a few years back. She... did a number, but we survived," Jessica said as she took the rifles.

"Verna's dying, slowly and painfully." One of the bigger men in the group, wearing a red and black costume, stepped forward. Kaine continued, "But if you kill them, they can regenerate with advanced cloning tech."

"So we've got our work cut out for us," Gwen said. "You in?"

"Sorry, Sia," Jessica said. "You know what the Inheritors are like. This is fate of the multiverse level stuff. Spider Squadron will need to go on the mission without me. Can you spare anyone to cover for me?"

"She has a whole Squadron?" Peter asked Gwen quietly. Gwen elbowed him in the side, also quietly.

Possibly. One idea did immediately come to mind, but she couldn't guarantee anything and she knew that.

"Of course," Sia said. "We can handle this here, you handle that."

Jessica had been here for a while helping her out, she couldn't expect her to not help others at home.

"Guys, you've got this," Jessica told her squad. "Sia? I'll make it back when I can."

If she could. She wasn't sure what would happen if a monster energy vampire drained her, but she figured even the Oz serum in her veins would have trouble bringing her back from that.

"Okay, let's do this."

As the portal drew the Spiders back in, Peter asked, "Seriously, how do you get a whole squadron?"

And then they were gone.

Sia watched a moment after they disappeared, and when she turned around, those who had been watching the scene quickly got back to work.

This was fine. This was all fine.
